This week we will look at how we can adjust our daily routine to get in sync with the natural rhythm of Summer.
Ayurveda encourages us to modify our daily routine with the pre-dominant qualities of the season. Summer hot, sharp, penetrating, intense, light/bright, and can also be boggy and moist. We need our daily routine to have some of the opposite qualities in order to bring balance to our systems during this time.
Here are the daily regimen recommendations for Summer:
*Exercise gently – the season governed by the sun is depleting, we need to be mindful of not over-exerting and burning out
*Self massage (abhyanga) and oil pulling w coconut oil, as it is more cooling
*Tongue scraping
*Rinsing the eyes with cool water or rose water
*Yoga – moon salutation, wide legs, straight legs
*Shitali or Shitakari – cooling breaths
*Meditation – metta, empty bowl
*Extra time for rest and relaxation and make time to PLAY!!!
Begin to explore shifting your routine for this season, and see how you feel. I look forward to reading in the comments below how your exploration goes!
Enjoy!
peace & love,
