In our last ‘Summer Season’ blog, we talked about how to adjust your daily routine for summer. This week I will offer suggestion on the bigger picture of your lifestyle during this season.
Again, we are working to balance the qualities of pitta that are high during this time period by applying opposite qualities: so where we see/feel
*Hot/heat, we’re wanting to cool down and aerate
*Sharp/Penetrating/Intense (soooo pitta!), here we want to slow down and soften
*Lightness, we’re choosing things that are more grounding
Balancing Lifestyle for Summer
*Wear a hat when outdoors
*Use sunglasses when there is glare
*Keep the skin covered and wear more loose silk and cotton clothes
*Go for a swim
*Sit in the shade and take in the sights and sound of nature
*Apply coconut oil to the feet and scalp at bedtime
*Make time for fun, play and good company
Begin to notice what you already are doing that is in line with the season… The tendency is to think that we have to do new things, yet Ayurveda teaches us that this wisdom and knowledge already exists within us Let me know what you were already doing that is seasonally aligned, and any new things you’re trying and how that’s working for you.
