This week we will look at how we can adjust our daily routine to get in sync with the natural rhythm of Spring time.
Ayurveda encourages us to modify our daily routine with the pre-dominant qualities of the season. Spring time is heavy, dense, thick, watery, soft, slow, and cool. We need our daily routine to have some of the opposite qualities in order to bring balance to our systems during this time.
Here are the recommended dinacharya (daily regimen) for Spring:
Get up before the sun – likely sometime between 5:30 and 6am
Exercise and sweat daily – doing this first thing in the morning is ideal!
Do yoga – more to come on which techniques are best in spring time.
Gargling w salt & turmeric water
Tongue scraping
Nasal cleansing w a neti pot – it is important to keep the nasal passages and sinuses clear in the spring
Oil the nostrils – 2 drops of sesame or sweet almond oil after neti will do the trick!
Dry brushing – great to stimulate the lymphatic system. Brush from the extremities in towards the heart
Self-massage w warm sesame or sunflower oil
Begin to explore shifting your routine for this season, and see how you feel. Please do leave me a comment or two below to let me know how your exploration goes!
Enjoy!
peace & love,
