Miriam Lyon is an RYT200 certified Yoga Teacher. She draws on her background in Psychology, alternative therapies, and teaching when designing and facilitating classes/workshops. Miriam started a regular meditation practice at age 14 and first tried yoga a couple of years after that.
“From the moment I first tried yoga I loved the sense of peace that it gave me, and the graceful combination of physical movement with attention to the breath (meditation). Yoga was the perfect opportunity to slow down and listen to my body. The benefits I’ve gained from my practice reach far beyond the physical. I have seen my concentration and focus improve, as well as gaining strength, confidence and balance. I also see these changes occurring on and off my mat.”
With the desire to dive deeper into the study of yoga and to be able to share the benefits of yoga with others, Miriam signed up for the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training program at Janati Yoga School in Kingston, Ontario. Miriam teaches from a place of compassion, encouraging her students to let go of judgment and focus on the present moment in order to find peace.
“The more I practice yoga – the physical practice, chanting, and meditation – I find I’m naturally attracted to healthier food choices, better sleep patterns, and subtle shifts in behaviour and perception that allow me to feel more whole, content, and joyful.”
In her spare time you can find Miriam enjoying food & drink with friends, traveling, dancing, gardening, or spending time in nature.
