I have had a most fascinating week… Lots going on, and amidst all this adventure and life, some great insights have arisen. I am aware of how important the practice of ahimsa is for a deeper reason today.
I am currently doing an online course with Dr. Claudia Welch (she’s a doctor of Oriental medicine) that is amazing! In this course she talks about how over time and as we age, things become fixed: habit patterns, our bodies, our minds… even our hearts. As the matrix of our being solidifies, everything about us solidifies. We become “set”. She compares this to the hardening of concrete or cement.
So once I’m “set”, what happens if I want to change something? If everything becomes solid, fixed and rigid… how do I go about softening the matrix of my being, how do I become more malleable so that I can bring about change in my being? This change might be a habit (I want to go to bed at 10pm instead of 10:30pm), a mindset (I allow myself to be imperfect without judgment or shame), in my body (I want to get out of my shoulder pain), or in my life (I want my life to be meaningful – from my day job to my relationships)…
Dr. Claudia teaches us that there are two tools we can use to soften the matrix of our being – love and focused attention. When we love, truly love from our spirit, we soften. In this softness, if we bring in focused attention on what we want to change and how (FYI: clarity is important), then as our being softens there is room for re-patterning… The concrete un-sets, and there’s room for us to reform things. And what is the catalyst for this ability to re-pattern, to change – LOVE!
The Beatles were bang on when they sang “All you need is love”.
As you move through your next few days I invite you to connect with the matrix of your being and notice what it’s like. Then choose love, and see how that feels… Then let me know!
With so much love,
m xo
