The discussion around the increased access to a “meditative state” in this practice and that that is posited to be the reason why “progress” happens perhaps quicker is interesting to me. This interview has made me very curious and I am going to seek out a lesson for sure. One take away that was interesting was the hands-off approach to the practice from the teachers perspective; no postural influencing or manipulation. First thing that came to mind was, “but what if someone is going to hurt themselves while in the posture incorrectly”? I do like the idea of just addressing the class as a whole and not signalling anyone out, but at the same time for me personally I like the hands-on because then I have something concrete to compare the… Read more »
It is interesting that Dr. Mikulus called this practice “technology”. I had taken 8 or 9 classes of Kundalini yoga last summer. I remember looking forward to the next class. My favourite part was ‘panting like a dog’ as if I was a child again. Dr.Mikulus demonstrated it well. What I didn’t notice was wearing white and wrapping head. Yes my teacher did that and now I know why.
