Janati Yoga Teacher Training Application Process
If you’re interested in becoming a yoga teacher, here are the steps to taking the Janati Yoga Teacher Training Program.
Application for the 200-HR YTT Program
Step 1: Sign up for The Deep Dive. The Deep Dive is the pre-requisite for Janati’s 200-hr YTT program. If you do not complete The Deep Dive, you will not be able to continue into YTT.
Step 2: Fill out your YTT application. You can download it here: 200HR Application.
Step 3: Submit your YTT application. You can email it to Mona at info@janatiyoga.com, or drop it off at Janati in an envelope with Mona’s name clearly written on it. If when you drop by Janati the door is locked, simply slide it under the door. Application includes a $25 application fee, which can be paid in cash, by check, or via e-transfer.
Step 4: Schedule your interview. We interview each candidate one-on-one to make sure it’s a fit for you and for us. Schedule your interview online here.
Frequently Asked Questions
~ Can I apply for the YTT before I've taken The Deep Dive, or do I have to wait until I have finished The Deep Dive to apply?
Great question! You can apply for YTT before you’ve completed The Deep Dive as long as you are registered for The Deep Dive. You cannot take YTT without taking The Deep Dive. If you know that you want to do the full YTT, then sign up for The Deep Dive and submit your YTT application.
~ How much will I have to spend on books and stuff for my YTT?
Everything we want you to read and use for YTT (and The Deep Dive) is included in your tuition. Unless you want to purchase something additional, the fee is the fee.
~ What is the total fee for taking my 200-HR YTT?
The total fee is $3750, for both The Deep Dive and YTT (cause you need to take both to complete your YTT at Janati Yoga School). There is no HST because Janati Yoga School is a private educational institution, registered with both Canada Revenue Agency and Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.
~ Is your program registered with the Yoga Alliance?
Yes. Since 2006.
~ Is there homework?
Yes. This is a professional certification and there is homework: take home test, research paper, 10 class project, practicum, and online learning components (anatomy, philosophy, ayurveda, …).
~ What is the outside of class commitment?
My (Mona here!) first yoga teacher told us, “You get out of yoga what you put into yoga”. He was 100% correct. Know that you’ll be doing at least a few hours a week of homework – more if you are in the summer program because the format is condenced. And this is on top of your daily personal practice.
~ What's the class size for YTT?
In the summer intensive we take 8. In the winter immersion we take 12.
~ Can I start teaching yoga after I do this program, or is there something else I need to do to be able to teach yoga?
Once you have your certificate of completion (you’ve shown up for all the hours, you’ve done all the homework, and everything is completed to the satisfaction of the teaching team), you can get insurance and start teaching yoga. No other registrations or courses required.

Frequently Asked Questions
~ Can I just show up to a module?
No. You have to pre-register one week in advance. Know that a $100 deposit is required to hold a seat in all 300-hr modules. If you are registering less than one week before the module, make sure you connect with Mona via email to make sure the module is not full and that you will have a manual for the module.
~ Do I have to take all the modules? Is there an order that I have to take them in?
No, you do not have to take all the modules. The program was designed so you can take some of them, or all of them. You can take them in any order. Folks can begin when they’re ready. The one caveat is that if a module has a “2” in the name (example: “Yoga Nidra 2”), then you have to take the “1” module first (example: “Yoga Nidra 1” comes before “Yoga Nidra 2”). If there’s no number in the name (example: Karma Yoga), then it can be taken anytime.
~ Can I apply workshops and teacher trainings that I've taken with other teachers to this program?
No. Our 300-HR Advanced Yoga Teacher Training program has its own curriculum. I have no idea what other people do in their programs, and even tho I’m sure it’s awesome, I still don’t know. For this reason, I can’t use their work in my program and know that I am maintaining my agreements with the Yoga Alliance about our curriculum.
~ Is your program registered with the Yoga Alliance?
Yes. Since 2008.
~ Is there homework?
Yes. Lots. Every module in our 300-HR has homework, except the Level 2 modules, which have pre-module homework that has to be submitted before you come. In order to get the 300-HR certificate, all 20 modules worth of homework has to be submitted.
