We lose ourselves again and again and again, over and over and over…being on a yoga retreat gives you an opportunity to allow other people to do the thinking for you. Let me guide you back to you, while the team at Shanti Retreat Centre set the stage by creating peaceful sleeping spaces, providing decadent yoga props, and preparing your your meals with fresh local + organic ingredients to nourish your body.
A few of my favourite benefits from being on retreat:
Connect with nature
Enjoy a leisurely stroll, wake early to listen to the morning birdsong, bask in some sunshine on the doc or sit comfortably in a Muskoka chair watching the waves of Brown’s Bay, and soak up the fresh sweet smelling country air.
Change your perspective
Take a step back from your home + work life and spend time considering your ingrained perspectives and of those around you. Bring a journal to write about your experience away, how your perspectives shape you as a person and what tools you’ve gained from your retreat experience + self reflection that you’d like to implement when you return home.
Deepen your practice
A yoga retreat offers an extraordinary amount of time to practice and receive personal attention. Practicing a couple of times a day for several days in a row is bound to push your buttons, highlight your limitations and the potential to stir up suppressed feelings you wouldn’t otherwise have time to feel and explore.
Meet new people
Meeting new people is like yoga…neither have a story about you. It’s can be so refreshing to meet like minded people who no nothing about us. It offers us a safe space to come as you are, sharing in meaningful conversation and creating lasting memories.
Have others tend to your needs
Take a load off, sit back and kick your heels up knowing someone else is on it. This is by far my favourite perk of being on retreat…everyone else does the thinking for you, from what postures you’ll sequence together, how long to hold Savasana, and what’s for dinner.
Appreciate home more
After several days of rest and relaxation, you’ll return home feeling calmer and more patient for the demands of your every day.
If this sounds like it’s just what you need, join me on retreat this summer or fall and we’ll spend one-on-one time together talking all things yoga, from your personal practice, to living yoga off the mat, and wellness in general. Come to disconnect from technology, everyone at home who wants a piece of you, and let us tend to your needs. You’ll also have boat loads of time to enjoy swimming in the Bay, relaxing in a hammock, canoeing, kayaking, and then ease your way into dreamland after a session in Shanti’s infrared sauna.
My retreats are for everybody and every body. No experience necessary.
