Health through Ayurveda always comes back to three pillars – nourishment, sleep and management of our vital resources. There are the key elements to balancing our energies, supporting digestive strength and building healthy tissues for a strong body, balanced emotions, and a clear and stable heart-mind <3
Ayurveda’s three pillars of health are to support the natural growth and healing process of your body-mind, to help you align with your own natural rhythms and innate wisdom.
Pillar #1: Nourishment
From the Ayurvedic view, nourishment includes everything we take into our body-mind:
· All sensory impressions…
The key to good nourishment is a strong and capable digestion – if our digestion is strong (in body, heart and mind) then we can digestion whatever comes through our field of awareness. If our digestion is compromised in some way (ex: stress), then when things come through our channels, whatever we do not digest completely (or at all, sometimes life is very weird and very hard) gets stuck in our channels until we can digest it.
Consider how you nourish yourself, and if it is giving you the strength and resilience you want and need to live your life. Consider on what level you are nourishing yourself – body, breath, emotions, mind, spirit. Is there a layer of your being that needs more nourishing?
In Ayurveda, before we consider something “nourishing”, we ask the following questions:
1. Quality – is it nourishing or toxic?
2. Quantity – can I digest it?
3. What dimension am I nourishing?
4. How do I feel after consuming it?
Let me know what nourishes you, and what you might do to increase your levels of nourishment.
To your well-being,
